Trails End Western Saddles
I know my blogs are few and far between....but this news is worth the effort. As Eddy and Maryanne Powell take their extended trip to the USA, they have entrusted us with the Trails End brand of saddles while they are away. Ian and I cannot thank them enough for their friendship and support and it is quite humbling to know they have faith in Ian's abilities as a saddle maker. As some of you may already be aware, Ian is fully trained by Eddy and has been working for him on and off over the years. Ian and Eddy have just spent 3 weeks making the trophy saddles for APRA. Thank you again Eddy, you will be missed by many.

I have just spent the last two days at Dusty Rivers Stud riding with Wendy and John and playing with their cattle. My biggest thank you to both, who saw me through the leaps and bounds of my 'cattle fresh' pony! Day two saw a much more relaxed Sam (the horse) and we even managed a couple of lead changes to get me a bit closer to my goal of reining properly. Their property is just stunning and the facilities are fabulous.
It was great to watch Wendy training her little horse 'Dusty's Smokin Poco'. Such a talented cutting mare and Wendy is a joy to watch.

Congratulations to Karen in Tauranga, New Zealand! Thanks for the opportunity to make such a unique slick fork saddle. I know Ian really enjoyed it, and I enjoyed using PicMonkey to edit the pictures!

Now that I've had my new saddle for a little while....I can honestly say what a lovely saddle it is. The nicest saddle I've ever had I'd say. I know I am terribly biased, but I really really really love riding in this saddle. I feel really secure in it (important for a middle aged duck like myself) and my horse Sam is really happy and moving very well. So thanks to my hubby Ian!

Congratulations to John and Sandra Heeb, and Gaye and Warren Ellis for winning the Gympie Horse & Rodeo Association Team Penning Buckle Series for 2012. WELL DONE! I am so stoked that you all ride in Ian's saddles and can compete successfully and ride happily in them. You guys are really awesome and I know that sounds cheezy but its true!

This saddle has been made for me! I needed something to start reining in as my old pleasure saddle, whilst being lovely for pleasure, wasn't right for me when I started to go a bit faster. So here is a custom Blue Creek Reining Saddle. 15 3/4" inch seat that has been inlaid with black ostrich leather. Rough-out seat and fenders and hand carved 'diaz' roses on the swell and jockeys. Twisted fenders and lined with genuine fleece. Ian's also used Jeremiah Watt hardware which just looks so fantastic. To ride in, it is amazingly comfortable and sits me right where I need to be. I haven't had a sore butt at all even though it is brand new. I'm so lucky to have this awesome saddle maker as my hubby!! For more pictures, please click here.

New Premier Campdrafter
Here is a picture of our 'new' Premier Campdrafter. I say new because it has been re-disgned (tweaked really...) with the generous help of Peter Glenwright. The Premier offers you freedom of movement, the ability to get up and out of the saddle without restriction but still have the capability to suck down behind the pads and get your leg forward. The close contact seat is now also slightly wider for real comfort. The best of all worlds!

Sorry it's been so long since I've blogged! So many things, so little time!
Congratulations to Wendy Johnston again for placing 3rd and 4th in the recent Dayboro Working Cow Horse competition. Outstanding! Wendy, of course, rides in a Blue Creek Custom cutting saddle made by Ian.
I've been out reining on Diablos Little Spin (AKA Sam). He's been great as it's all new to him. So far, two beginner patterns and two scores so well done Sam and well done me for not forgetting which way to turn!
Clinics with Wayne Williams and Jason Wordsworth were fantastic and thanks to the QRHA for putting on such fun days. To say nothing of the fabulous facilities at QSEC Caboolture. Really nice place to stay and show. Long way to the arena, but hey, we can ride the horse can't we???
Ian has been so busy that my reining saddle has been put on hold, then on hold again, then again. Sigh. It's weird reining in a fender saddle, even if it is a really pretty one. See attached picture!

Congratulations Wendy Johnston and 'Dusty's Smokin Dream' (by PepeWood) for winning the Novice Working Cow Horse Competition at Dayboro QLD! Working Cow Horse events are a mixture of reining, cutting and drafting. This was Wendy's first attempt at Working Cow Horse so a fantastic effort.
Wendy rides in a custom made cutting saddle made by Ian at Blue Creek Custom Saddles.
